Journal of Joy is exactly what its name suggests.
It’s been years since I realised that it’s the little things that make me joyful. Big things too — but it seems the little ones nourish me for longer.
I chat with a friend and sip a delicious tea, and I catch myself being surprisingly present in that moment. I plan a photoshoot with another friend; each idea makes me laugh, each photo makes me smile. And then I realise it’s been five hours since we took the cameras out, and now it’s time for dinner.
I eat breakfast with another friend and realise I could spend the rest of my life in the middle of that conversation. I admire an insect sitting on a leaf. My friend’s kid decides to give me a hug. Someone gifts me a new paper journal. I wake up early enough to watch the sun rise.
You might call all of these things mundane. They aren’t to me.
I might be the only one reading this blog — along with the two friends who encouraged me to publish it. But who knows? Maybe you’ll find something here that speaks to you. Maybe you’ll decide to start your own. Maybe you’ll feel a tiny bit more joyful.
Take what resonates, and leave the rest.
Noticing Joy.
